Premonition [ 12th Grade ]
A painting I did after waking up from a dream one night. In the dream, a large black wolf came towards me with eyes dripping from its mouth, an arrow lodged in its head. For the past few months, I've been dealing with really bad depression, and I feel like this dream is symbolizing it - a black wolf symbolizes a harmful and chaotic person or thing, eyes represent the soul, and an arrow lodged can mean an evil entity hanging over. The words are from the song "Saint Bernard" by Lincoln, a song that really resonates with me.

Night Watch [ 11th Grade ]
A drawing I did of my original character, Rem (short for Rembrandt). The title comes from Rembrandt's painting The Night Watch.

Self Portrait with a Sun Hat [ 11th Grade ]
A painting I did of myself replicating Vincent Van Gogh's Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat.

David Bowie [ 10th Grade ]
For this project, we were to select a photo of a real person to paint. The person I chose to paint was David Bowie, specifically him on the cover of his album Heroes.

Stop Possuming [ 10th Grade ]
A statement on feeling how people act fake around me, complimenting and pretending to be nice when they turn around and talk trash behind my back. Stop possuming = stop being fake.
I really love the eyeball and how detailed the eyeball is. The highlight on the eyeball is really nice. I also like the teeth too.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very creative piece, based on one of your past experiences. I love how you make the painting in the eyes fading away just like how souls are mostly transparent. The colors fit with the concept you were going for and it's overall well done. However, the only thing I'll say is you could fix the end of the arrow a little bit, unless it was intentional.
ReplyDeleteThe detail in the teeth and eyes is really well done. The coloring is really well done as well
ReplyDeleteI love the painting style used to create this piece.
ReplyDeleteI really like th eidea of how you took your nightmare and turned it into your own art piece and love how you took the time to understand and explain such symbolism from a dream.
ReplyDeleteI love how detailed the teeth are. I think its cool how you can remember your dreams so vividly.
ReplyDelete(Ty Stephens) I think the teeth look really good. I think it was smart for you to use tinted colored teeth instead of pure white. I feel that it creates a sense of realism and depth to the teeth.
ReplyDeleteCompared to your other work, this one is raw. I believe it is something you will revisit and rework in the future. For the purpose of AP Studio Art I would go back and clean it up some. I would look to adding more varied values in the wolf itself in addition to the yellow and white highlights (maybe dark blues and purples).
ReplyDeletei like how the wolf doesn't have any other color in it and i like how its just black and his teeth and eyes have different colors.
ReplyDeleteI like the meaning behind this and the detail. Most of the time I can't remember my dreams so its cool that you so could recreate it so descriptively.
ReplyDeleteThis piece is so beautiful, but it comes off as a lil flat, I would love to see more texture on the wolf!
ReplyDeleteOf course Annie you never disappoint. A high quality masterpiece in front of me. I'm not too educated on different types of mediums, but from this you have a great understanding of both digital and paint (and other mediums too like pencil and marker, but I haven't seen those pieces from you in a while) 10/10
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing and the fact that you painted what you dreamed is really cool.
